CEREC Same-Day Crowns in Flower Mound

Providing Effective Solutions for All Your Dental Needs

Dr. Brett Titensor trains dental professionals across the country in CEREC same-day crowns and digital dentistry. To restore worn, broken, or cracked teeth, Titensor Dental may recommend that we "cap" your teeth using dental crowns. A dental crown covers your tooth safely and completely. It fits snugly at your gum line and works to protect what remains of your existing tooth.

When is a Dental Crown Recommended?

Dr. Titensor recommends dental crowns in Flower Mound when:

  • A crown is needed to support and cover a tooth with a sizable filling when an inadequate amount of natural tooth remains
  • A crown is needed to restore a tooth that is already broken, protect a weak tooth from cracking, or attach a bridge
  • A crown is needed to cover teeth that are badly shaped or discolored
  • A crown is needed to cover a dental implant
  • A crown is needed to prevent further breaking or cracking of a tooth that has undergone a root canal

Dr. Titensor's primary concern, like yours, is helping you keep your smile bright and your teeth healthy.

How is a Dental Crown Made?

Depending on your personal situation and preference, Dr. Titensor can recommend numerous durable materials, such as porcelain, ceramic, and gold for your crown. Most patients choose porcelain crowns because matching the natural color of your surrounding teeth is easier with the porcelain material, creating an appealing smile in two easy steps. Titensor Dental can design and fit your crown with just: Preparation and application.

Preparation for a Dental Crown

First, Dr. Titensor numbs the specific area within your mouth and prepares your tooth by removing its outer portion. Then, after a thorough examination, we carefully and expertly remove the decayed tissue from your tooth and create a size and shape area in your tooth that will fit your dental crown. Our next step is for us to make an impression of your teeth and send it to a dental laboratory where they produce your dental crown – a custom-made fit. The process requires one to two weeks. We protect your teeth and gums with an acrylic resin crown that will be your temporary replacement while your permanent crown is being created.

Application of a Dental Crown

Our office will call you when your dental crown is ready. During this visit, Dr. Titensor removes the temporary crown. He adjusts and fits the permanent dental crown into place. At this point, he checks the dental crown for bite discrepancies, color match, fit, and appearance. When he is satisfied with the attributes of the crown, he cements the crown onto your tooth.

Maintaining a Dental Crown in Flower Mound

When you practice good dental care, you take the first step in maintaining your dental crown; however, to protect your new crown, you want to conscientiously floss and brush it at the base to maintain minimal bacteria that could lead to gum disease. In addition, by scheduling your regular dental checkups with Titensor Dental, you receive our professional dental care where we can check your crown for any issues that may develop.
