Dental Implants | Cosmetic Dentistry

For dental or oral implant procedures, Dr. Titensor uses a three-step process: assessing, anchoring, and attaching.

Dental Implant Procedure – Step One: Assessing

Dr. Titensor first assesses your surrounding tooth and jaw area. If you have any tooth decay or gum disease, he needs to rectify these conditions prior to performing any cosmetic dental procedure.

When assessing the fittings for your implants, Dr. Titensor or his hygienists normally perform several x-rays, and in some cases, a CT scan to check the quality of the bone surrounding the missing tooth for any abnormalities prior to proceeding with the dental treatment.

If evaluation of the x-rays or CT scan indicates you have insufficient bone material to accommodate the implant, Dr. Titensor will perform a bone graft to create a better environment for placement of the dental implant.

Dental Implant Procedure – Step Two: Anchoring

Dr. Titensor performs the dental implant procedures with you resting comfortably under a local anesthetic. However, if you are extremely anxious, we offer sedation dentistry: laughing gas, oral conscious sedation, or IV sedation. We want you to be as comfortable as possible during your dental implant procedure.

Once the preliminary procedures are completed, Dr. Titensor cuts and lifts the gum area for the dental implant and drills a hole into the jawbone at the exact location of the intended dental implant.

Once Dr. Titensor drills the hole, he fits a titanium oral implant or screw into the pre-drilled hole and stitches the gum over the implant. Typically, he removes the stitches after 7-14 days.

The dental implant remains in place to heal and to integrate with the surrounding bone. The healing process takes three to six months.

Dental Implant Procedure – Step Three: Attaching

dental-implants-02After the healing period, Dr. Titensor lifts the gum and screws a dental abutment, known as a post, down into the implant. He then attaches a temporary crown to the post.

Four to six weeks later, when the surrounding gum tissue has matured, Dr. Titensor affixes your custom-made artificial tooth. The result is a secure, attractive, replacement tooth or set of teeth designed to function as effectively as your natural teeth.

The dental implant procedure requires multiple visits to Dental Implants Dallas Fort Worth, but once you consider the result – your improved smile – you will decide that it was time well spent.

From A Patient

Customized service. I am always very comfortable at Dr. Steven Titensor's office. That is no small feat since I am afraid of the dentist! My hygienist, Kathy, is great. She makes you feel right at ease and remembered where my sensitive tooth was so I didn't have any discomfort. Sometimes I even look forward to coming in!
